This week is National School Counseling Week. Our counselors work with all students to remove barriers to learning by helping students apply academic achievement strategies, manage emotions, build interpersonal skills, support mental health needs, and plan for post-secondary options. No counselor’s job is the same because they adapt so well to what is needed from our students and schools as a whole. Thank you, counselors, for all you do in Rochester Public Schools!

Riverside's Lunar New Year celebration included Taekwondo demonstrations by the Park Institute, who also allowed our Riverside students to practice some kicks and hits. We were also honored to have Chinese Calligrapher, Wenzhi Zhan, gifting kids with his talent.

The Lunar New Year celebration was a hit with families as we celebrated Chinese and Korean culture. Camp Moonwha displayed a traditional Korean formal gown. We tasted traditional Lunar New Year treats. And the Lanterns we made lit up from the inside!

Riverside's Artist in Residence, Amy Krause, completed her residency with Right Fit students this week. Ms. Krause emphasized self-expression and helped kids with their individual ideas for these murals.

President Lincoln signed the Amendment abolishing slavery on February 1, 1865, although it was not ratified by the states until later.
