Recommended Student Timeline
Participating in the Rochester Regional Science and Engineering Fair (RRSEF) can seem complicated if you have never done it before. Below is a recommended timeline that you can follow to help make the process a bit easier. This schedule should be modified to meet your project needs; however, all paperwork must be completed, signed, and dated in the order that appears below and put into your Project Notebook.
A packet with the original copies of all of your paperwork needs to be submitted to the RRSEF at the Community Education Office by January 11, 2019. You must retain a copy โโโof all of your paperwork in your Project Notebook to help you prepare for the Fair in February.
First Stage: September/October
- Select Topic
- Begin Research and Find Reference Materials
- Begin and Maintain Project Notebook to Hold Paperwork, Research, Data, and Analysis
Second Stage: October/November
- Prepare Research Plan or Project Summary
- Determine if Your Project Requires SRC Review
Third Stage: October/November
- Attend SRC Review (If Needed Based on ISEF Rules Wizard)
- Project Experimentation and Data Collection Begins (After SRC Review If Required) (write start date on student checklist)
Fourth Stage: November/December
- Finish Experimentation and Data Collection
- Analyze Results
- Begin Poster and/or Paper for Science Fair

- Finalize Science Fair Paperwork to Turn in to Community Education
- Make Copy of all Science Fair Paperwork for your Project Notebook
- Review Display and Safety Guidelines to Make Sure Your Poster Follows State Regulations
- Watch Your Email for Updates on Paperwork and Planning for Fair
