Community Education

The 58th Rochester Regional Science Fair will “lift off” the week of February 8th, 2016, at RCTC for our sixth through twelfth grade students. Our theme this year, as chosen by last year’s participants, is “Defying Gravity.”

While the Science Fair is supported in part by Community Education and Rochester Public Schools we also rely on donations from the community. By giving to this annual event, you will be supporting students’ growing interest in all areas of science. Participation in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) activities give students practice in developing processes for solving problems. As a result students have the opportunity to become better analytical and innovative thinkers as they prepare for future careers and college.

We are fortunate again this year to partner with GATEway, Rochester’s chapter of the Minnesota Council for Gifted and Talented, to accept donations for student awards and prizes.  This partnership is critical so that public spending restrictions do not limit the awards we are able to give participants.

We are also seeking donations to support Regional Science Fair supplies, transportation, and other operational costs. These donations can be made to Rochester Regional Science Fair.

Donations are needed for student awards and general science fair operations. Donations can be made in the following ways:

  1. Student Awards – make check payable to MCGT Rochester – Regional Science Fair for monetary awards, medals/trophies, and prizes for students.
  2. Merchandise for Students – provide prizes such as shirts, backpacks, gift cards, etc.
  3. General Science Fair Funds – make check payable to Rochester Regional Science Fair for expenses of running the fair such as rent, supplies, transportation, etc.

Remember, even small donations can make a big impact in the lives of our students.

A list of donors will be published in the science fair program if donations are received by January 15, 2016. All donors will be acknowledged on the fair website.

To donate please complete a donation form (see below) and return it to Northrop Community Education Center. If you have any questions regarding donations, please contact David Williamson, STEM Learning Specialist, at (507) 328-4025 or via email Thank you for partnering with us to provide this wonderful STEM opportunity for our students.
