Rochester Regional Science & Engineering Fair

The 60th Annual Rochester Regional Science and Engineering Fair is one week away! Please read the following information completely so you are prepared for this fun event.

  1. All students must check in to the Fair and set up their displays at the Regional Sports Center on the RCTC campus between 3:00 and 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 22. A mandatory Display and Safety Check will take place at this time.
    1. Pre-check your display for some of the most common violations: not having a credit line or cited sources for all visual images, including photographs, tables, charts, graphs; having sharp objects or edges on displays or equipment; including corporate brand name logos (i.e. Minute Maid, Aquafina, Miracle Gro); featuring the Mayo Clinic or IBM logo/name or including a mentor, research supervisor, or teacher name; featuring photos of anyone other than the student researcher without signed consent; using sand, soils, or food; or having active Internet connections at your booth (not in Airplane Mode).
  2. Middle School judging begins at 6:30 p.m. on February 22. High School judging begins at 9:30 a.m. on February 23. Doors into the display area will be locked when no judging is taking place. No one will be able to enter until 10 minutes prior to the start of any judging session.
  3. Community viewing for this year’s Science Fair will be held from 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. on February 23.
  4. All students inside the exhibit hall during judging will need to wear a lanyard and name tag. All adults must have an official regional science fair lanyard to enter the exhibit hall during judging. Students will be disqualified if any parent/guardian is present during judging.
  5. Students must be with their project for the entire judging session. Students may not leave the Regional Sports Center before the end of judging without written permission from the parent/guardian or parent/guardian being present to pick up the student.
    1. MIDDLE SCHOOL (public) transportation to RCTC will only be provided to the Fair on Friday afternoon. Middle School students should eat lunch before leaving their school on Friday.
    2. HIGH SCHOOL (public) transportation to RCTC will only be provided to the Fair on Friday morning. High School students will have a pizza lunch provided for them between 12:00 – 1:00pm on Friday. Students ARE NOT permitted to leave the RCTC Regional Sports Center during lunch.

      All students need to make their own arrangements to be picked up between 3:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday, February 23 at the Regional Sports Center.

  7. Students must remove their projects between 3:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon. Any projects remaining after 4:00 p.m. will be discarded.
  8. Students receive ribbons by the start of the special awards judging session Friday afternoon. State ribbons, “Top in Category” awards, and other local, regional and national awards will be announced during the Awards Presentation at 6:30 p.m. in the Willow Creek Middle School Auditorium on February 23.
